The Lighter Side

The lighter side in Rotary takes lots of forms. Sometime it can be a particularly good speaker at the regular club meetings.
Sometimes the lighter side can be a fun night out at a restauant, a visit to the theature or a trip to a winery.
Sometimes the lighter side can be a tad more formal. This photo shows Past President Peter giving he chain of office to incoming President Camille. These 'Changeover Dinners' are the most formal of the Rotary year.

Sometimes the lighter side can be the people we meet. This year the Monash Council called on us to help with the catering at the Australia Day Festivities.

We thought this lady looked wonderful in her sari. We asked if we could include the photo on our Facebook site.

This led to over 750 'likes' from all over Australia and India!!

Of course, the gentleman is very good looking too and we have no doubt that several of the 'likes' are for him, as well!

Sometimes the lighter side can be sad! One freezing Saturday night in winter, many of our club members went to Tullamarine Airport to farewell Niklas, our exchange student who was returning to Germany.

He had spent a year with us. His presence did a lot for Australian - German relationships.

We wanted to keep him but his family disagreed.

You can't win them all, even in Rotary!
