Famous Rotarians

Winston Churchill: Rotary Club of London.

Franklin D. Roosevelt: Rotary Club of Albany.

The other gentelman was not a Rotary member as far as we know.

Niel Armstrong: Rotary Club of Wapakoneta, Ohio
Luciano Pavarotti: Rotary Club of Modena.
Walt Disney : Rotary Club of Palm Springs

Sir William Deane, Governor General of Australia: Rotary Club of Sydney

Bill Gates Jr is not actually a Rotarian himself. His dad, Bill Gates Sr is a member of Rotary Club of Seattle. This is the linkage, which led the Bill Gates Foundation to devote its effort to the eradication of polio.

In 2007, the Gates Foundation gave The Rotary Foundation a $100 million challenge grant for polio eradication, and in 2009, increased it to $355 million. Rotary agreed to raise $200 million in matching funds by 30 June 2012, but Rotarians in fact raised $228.7 million toward the challenge.

Inspector Barnaby of Causton CID is an active Rotary member.

The Rotary connection for Barnaby was suggested by actor John Nettles

Arthur Daly (who is absolutely NOT a Rotarian) was, apparently, asked to speak at a Rotary Club function.

Terry, we have it on good authority, stood guard to keep some  tasty geezers at bay who laboured under the delusion that Arthur owed them money.

If anyone can identify which club this was would they kindly advise Rotary International. They have been trying to track down this infamous event for years!
