CERVICAL CANCER Global Grant 2024

CERVICAL CANCER

The Rotary Club of Glen Waverley is endeavouring to raise funds to finance the purchase and equipping of a mobile testing vehicle, to be used in an early intervention programme against cervical cancer.

This mobile testing unit will be utilised in the rural areas surrounding Semarang in Central Java Indonesia and will be staffed by people from the Panti Wilasa Citarum Hospital, Midwifery Academy owned by Panti Wilasa Citarum Hospital and the Semarang City Health Bureau and facilitated by the Rotary Club of Semarang Kunthi and the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley.

Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that attacks the cervix in women and is a terrible and deadly disease if not detected and treated. It is the cause of death in Indonesia of 36,633 females and is ranked in the top 3, or 9.2% of total deaths caused by cancer in Indonesia and the death rate continues to rise.

The cost of this project is US$50,000.00 and we have a current shortfall of approximately US$10,0000.00

Can you help us with this humanitarian task?

For further information and or advice please contact Past District Governor Graeme Woolacott OAM of the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley via woolyg@bigpond.com.

The two Rotary Clubs have partnered in the past quite successfully with a mobile dental unit and with a mobile library both of which were in the range of US$35,000.00 per completed unit. Success and sustainability have been proven in the past and this project will really help save lives.
