Rotary Monash Glen Waverley SCHOOLS WRITING COMPETITION Sep 2024
Commencing in April 2024 with first contact this popular competition for Year 3 and 4 students in Glen Waverley
Primary schools attracted the participation of 6 schools. Two topics were set with an optional third topic chosen by
teachers from an area of the curriculum. By August 1 entries of the Best and Runner up pieces of writing were
received from each school with both poetry and a variety of essay forms represented. After a difficult choice, the
Rotarian panel decided the 2024 overall Champion was Olivia Li of Year 4 at Mount View Primary School for her
creative space travel story based on “The day it all happened”.
Rotarians have visited 5 schools at Assembly to present the winners with certificates and their book voucher awards
sourced from Robinsons Bookshop, The Glen. A certificate acknowledging the School‘s Participation was accepted by
each Principal. The sixth school will be visited in October. All staff and students involved are congratulated on their
results. Our Monday October 7th Youth night will involve the presentation of the Winning School trophy and award
along with the Champion Award to Olivia Li who will be accompanied by her parents and a teacher. All schools look
forward to next year’s competition.
