Footy Uniforms for Glen Waverley Sec College - 2024
Here is a note from President Chris regarding an initiative from the Youth Committee to help Glen Waverley
Secondary College with Footy Uniforms for the girls.
Chris and Ted Keene visited the school of 27th March to meet the girls footy team.
I am very pleased to advise that the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley’s District Grant to buy Girls AFL Uniforms for
GWSC students has been approved.
The District Grant is: From Rotary District $2,722 and from RCGW $2,723 Total. $5,445
Chris and Ted, Thank-you both so much for visiting Glen Waverley Secondary College this afternoon and meeting our female footy stars who play for our 'GWSC GIANTS' junior, intermediate and senior girls AFL teams! As you can see from the photos below, all of our future AFLW legends absolutely adore their new high-performance ISC footy
guernseys, shorts and socks! They also had an absolute ball with you both during our exclusive GIANT footy photo
shoot after school this afternoon....
Our girls really appreciate the support of the Rotary Club of Glen Waverley and your generosity in sponsoring the
purchase of AFL uniforms designed to fit all of the different shapes and sizes of our amazing young footballers who
are kicking goals for female footy currently at GWSC! It is clear to see that they all look absolutely amazing in their
new kit, but more importantly feel comfortable, strong and empowered to get active and stay healthy through
their endeavours on the footy field! I am certain that these new AFL uniforms will encourage even more
multicultural girls from Glenny to sign-up to be part of our various AFL programs and show us their skills with the
Sherrin in hand and also by foot in the very near future!
FYI, our Junior (Years 7 & 8), Intermediate (Years 9 & 10) and Senior (Years 11 & 12) 'GWSC GIANTS' Girls AFL
teams will be playing in their brand new footy uniforms on Tuesday the 21st of May, 2024 when they compete in
the School Sport Victoria 'Waverley Division' Girls AFL Championships. It will be so exciting to see all three of our
teams running out onto the field in their brand new guernseys, shorts and socks! I have a feeling that 2024 may
just be a GIANT year for female footy at GWSC.....
